Eleuthera

“Eleuthera”, or “Ele" for short, references her owners family roots in the Bahamas and the joy, freedom, memories and fun that can be had on an island in the sunshine. "Eleuthera" derives from the feminine form of the Greek (eleútheros), meaning "free".

Islay

Islay is a brutally beautiful Scottish island, a place of ever-changing skies and broiling grey-green seas. Pronounced Eye-la, it is the perfect namesake to reflect the boat's Highland heritage and her designer's penchant for the island's spectacular whisky.

If you’re looking for a unique stay, this is it. Overlooking Bembridge Harbour, Islay and her sister boat Eleuthera, nestle into their surroundings beautifully providing easy access for everything a family or group holiday could wish for and some of the most delightful hidden beaches on the Isle of Wight.

Islay and Eleuthera can sleep up to 10 and enjoys glorious views across the harbour, perfect for a family getaway to the island. The houseboat will rise and fall with the tides and come to settle on the seabed.

Only a short walk from Bembridge village and beaches, the entrance leads across a walkway to the front door which opens onto the main open-plan living area. With kitchen/utility, toilet, banquet dining table, and comfortable sitting areas, you’ll enjoy spectacular views across the harbour. The sliding folding doors that lead onto the viewing deck flood light into the main room. The ever-changing sea and sky create a constantly changing landscape that can be enjoyed all year round. Downstairs there are 4 modern bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, sleeping up to 10, perfect for 2 families.

Access to each boat is via a 5m long 1m wide gangway, which is lit at night, from a private deck at street level on Embankment road. Almost opposite is the guest car park with complimentary parking for 2 cars. We are sorry but the boat design makes her unsuitable for wheelchair access.

  • We had a great time celebrating New Year's Eve onboard Houseboat Islay! The houseboat is in great condition - everything feels new and clean. The boat is well-equipped with wireless speakers, dishwasher, vacuum cleaner, etc as well as board games and plenty of books. Everything worked well and communication was great. Would highly recommend staying!

This houseboat is certainly a different type of accommodation, stunning both inside and out with exceptional views. The houseboat is well equipped, especially the kitchen but also with games and activities and lovely clean decor. I loved the sound of the sea lapping against the boat at night and the sound of the sea gulls and other boats. Would certainly recommend for something different. Our stay was in November 2021, luckily we had exceptional weather for the time of year.

  • We had a wonderful three night stay on Eleuthera, in such a beautiful location. The harbour had us mesmerised by the incredible colours on display at sunrise and sunset and there's always something to look at. A very comfortable and well equipped house by the sea that we all were very sad to leave. Looking forward to returning next year and staying a bit longer!

A wonderful stay in a beautiful location. A very well equipped and cosy place to stay, like a home away from home. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be looking forward to returning in the future and using both accommodations.
    Thank you very much.

What an amazing place! We surprised my Dad with Islay for his 60th birthday and he was absolutely made up! The houseboat was fantastic and we enjoyed the local running routes, including the park run. Will definitely look to come back!
