Two cyclists riding a cliff-top road above the sea on the Isle of Wight

Cycling breaks from Bembridge Harbour

Pedal the Island.
Sleep on the Water.

Quiet lanes, traffic-free trails and big coastal views by day — and a floating home on one of the Island's most peaceful harbours to come back to every evening.

Wake to the call of oystercatchers and the clink of rigging. Pour a coffee on deck while the tide turns across the harbour. Then wheel your bike down the gangplank and set off to explore one of Britain's best cycling destinations — an island you can ride around in a weekend, and still find something new on every lane.

Why Bembridge

The Island's best start line

Right on the Round the Island route

The signposted 65-mile circuit runs past the harbour, so you can start and finish at your front door. Tackle it in one big day, or split it over a relaxed long weekend.

Easy links to the Red Squirrel Trail

A short ride takes you to 32 miles of mostly traffic-free, family-friendly trail along old railway lines, through woodland and farmland. Keep your eyes open for the Island's famous red squirrels.

Coast and countryside from day one

Beaches, chalk downland, marshes and villages are all within a few miles of the boat. No car, no transfers — just wheel your bike down the gangplank and go.

Getting here

The crossing is part of the adventure

Bring your bike across the Solent from Portsmouth, Southampton or Lymington — most ferry crossings carry bikes, so check with the operator when you book your sailing. Once you're here, you won't need the car at all.
